Dr. Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit — Man’s Best Friend
The Dr. Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit is made up of art from students of all ages. They begin their projects each spring, each creating their personal point of view on “Man’s Best Friend.” The artwork is made up of drawings, paintings and mixed media works, depending on the artist’s preference and style. After submitting their projects, each grade has its winners selected and the art is shown at the Shows for visitors and exhibitors to admire.

If you are a teacher, work in childcare or a parent, we’ve got a gift for you. This year we’ve worked with a licensed educator to create two worksheets to help kids learn more about dogs. Both are aligned to Texas TEKS for grades 3-6.
One focuses on dogs in the community and will teach how dogs can contribute to society through jobs, and how they interact with us in our daily lives. The other focuses on dogs from a more scientific angle, and presents questions based in animal science and biology.
Each worksheet also has a coupon for $3 off an adult ticket to the Houston World Series of Dog Shows, and kids 12 and under get in free every day.
AKC Patch Program
The AKC Patch Program aims to introduce children of all ages to purebred dogs and dog shows through a fun, interactive program that will take place at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows.
The program is designed for groups whether you’re in the Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H or other programs like Big Brother, Big Sister or The Boys and Girls Club, and is great for children ages 5 to 17. It involves a scavenger hunt for information about different classes of dogs, and is meant to be hands-on and a social activity. If you’d like to sign your group up, email the AKC below to register.
