Out with the old and in with the new. The annual series of dog shows has changed names from “Reliant Park World Series of Dog Shows” to “Houston World Series of Dog Shows.” Avid dog show fans need not to worry. The Houston World Series of Dog Shows, held at NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park), July 16-20, 2014, is still the same spectacular canine extravaganza the whole family can enjoy.
“Changing the name from “Reliant Park World Series of Dog Shows” to “Houston World Series of Dog Shows” helps associate the dog show more firmly with Houston,” says Tom Pincus, show chairperson.
The Houston World Series of Dog Shows consists of numerous canine-oriented events including breed judging, canine musical freestyle, Frisbee dogs and Flyball. The McScotty Market is filled with hundreds of commercial vendors offering spectators the latest and greatest in canine fashion and health as well as an equal amount of canine welfare organizations to explain their important services and educate the public about responsible dog ownership. Appreciate some amateur art from local students at the Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit where kids in grades K through 12 express on canvas their unconditional love for the family pet. Want to your dog to be part of the action? If so, check out the AKC's My Dog Can Do That! event where you can test your pup's skills in agility without the pressure of a real competition! There are many more must-see events throughout the five-day extravaganza. See a full list of events on our schedules page.
See you in July!
